PUDINA CHUTNEY/ MINT CHUTNEY


Chutney a spicy dip for breads, dosa, paratha , dosa etc is prepared in different styles in India , mint chutney is no exception. Pudina (mint) a herb with medicinal properties is used for flavoring and green chilly is used for spicing up. Chutney posted here is a south Indian variant and goes well with plain rice, dosa, chapathi or idli.

Ingredients
  • Mint leaves - 1 bowl ful 
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup 
  • Green chilly - 4 - 5 
  • Tamarind - 1 small goose berry size 
  • Oil - for seasoning 
  • Mustard - 1/2 spoon 
  • Salt to taste 
Method
  • In a kadai fry chilly and pudina adding 1/2 spoon oil, keep aside 
  • Grind fried pudina, coconut, salt, tamarind adding little water 
  • Prepare seasoning with oil and mustard and add to chutney 
(Seasoning - heat oil , add mustard seeds and let them crackle.)
