ALU DODDAPATRE MOSARU BAJJI/AALU AJWAIN RAITHA/POTATO OREGANO IN YOGURT/KARPOORAVALLI RAITHA
Raitha
is a yogurt/curd preparation which is popularly prepared with
cucumber/onion tomato or boondi. In Southern India it is called curd
bajji and includes cooked mashed vegetables which are seasoned with
various spices and herbs. Raitha is paired with rice dishes such as
Bisibele Bath, Kichadi and Pulao. Aalu ajwain raitha is a quick fix
recipe which may be prepared with dry ingredients that are available at
home. It also has good digestive properties.

Ingredients
- Potato - 1 medium sized
- Dodda patre (Cuban Oregano) leaves - 7 - 8
- Ajwain (carom )- 3/4 spoon
- Cumin - 3/4 spoon (optional)
- Pepper corns - 1/2 spoon
- Hing - 1 pinch
- Curd - 1 cup
- Mustard - 1/2 spoon
- Oil for seasoning
- Salt - to taste
Method
- Wash, boil, peel and mash potato
- In a kadai heat oil, add mustard let it splutter, add ajwain, peppercorns to oil after crushing them coarsely fry till aroma wafts, add chopped oregano leaves and saute for 2 - 3 mins. Keep aside.
- Add curd, salt and seasoning to mashed potato and mix well. raitha is ready to serve.

- Oregano is good for cough, nasal congestion and flatulence.
I had unexpected guests and I wanted a raitha to be paired with pulao i had prepared. had potatoes at home and oregano in my garden, managed this dish in 10 mins. It tasted good and efforts satisfying.
